In a daring and innovative move that underscores his role as a leader in the field of nephrology, Dr. Bruce Greenfield debuted “Dialysize”, his rap music video designed to bring attention to and awareness about kidney disease and the process of dialysis.

As a physician, Dr. Greenfield is committed to his patients and their well-being.  He is a leader in his field and now the first nephrologist ever to star in his own rap music video spreading knowledge and health literacy through entertainment.

“Through my career as a physician, I hear the lyrics in my conversations with my patients”, said Dr. Greenfield.  “I am excited to use the backdrop of music to give kidney disease the attention it needs and take away some of the anxiety related to dialysis.  And I am hoping to use music and humor to shed a little light on the lives of the half million people in this country who quietly undergo dialysis every day in this country”.

To pull this off in true Hollywood fashion, Dr. Greenfield wrote the rap himself and engaged the Bullets Production Team known for its work with Jennifer Lopez, Will. i. am and Tupac Shakur, to name a few. Dialysize was executive produced by William Junebug Lee and is a unique and entertaining way to reduce the fear of dialysis, a process for removing waste and excess water from the blood required by patients with lost kidney function as often as three days per week.

As a board- certified nephrologist, Dr. Greenfield is well aware of the challenges of detecting and treating kidney disease. Kidney disease can progress slowly causing irreversible damage prior to being detected. Selena Gomez was in the news after receiving a kidney transplant related to her often-publicized battle with Lupus.

“A kidney transplant is as serious as it gets”, said Dr. Greenfield. “Selena Gomez is lucky to have a friend like Francia Raisa to donate her kidney. Hopefully, it will get more people talking about kidney disease and paying attention to potential symptoms.”
