The Significant Role that Mole Removal Methods Play in Health and Beauty
By Axili Sonni
One cannot help but be amazed at how far skin care has gone. People no longer have to be saddled with the thought of living with scars and pimples. The same is true with warts and other skin problems. While, technically, moles are not skin problems, many people view them as such. That is why mole removal is now practiced largely.
What brings about these things we call moles? Moles, or medically called as “nevi”, are basically small pigmented lesions on the skin. They all don’t look the same because they vary in colors, sizes and shapes. They could either appear from birth as congenital moles or later in life, even when they are full-grown adults. These are referred to as acquired moles. The appearance of moles is something that is common in people, although in varying degrees. Physiology has a lot to answer for when it comes to the number of moles one has. Fair-skinned people, in general, tend to have more of them.
There are times when heredity can also be blamed for this. The large number of moles in my cousin can be explained by the similarly large number of moles that her mother, my aunt, has. In these cases, the moles that develop are called atypical or dysplastic moles. The appearance of atypical or dysplastic moles on the skin can also be blamed on the skin being exposed too long to the sun.
There is not one area of the body where moles choose to appear in. They sometimes appear in the most unexpected of places and in varying concentrations. My cousin’s face is clear and flawless, free from moles. But the concentration of moles is around her neck and upper chest area. Now she is contemplating going through some mole removal procedures so she can have a mole-free neck and upper chest.
What is the reason behind people looking to remove their moles? The truth of the matter is, moles are skin irregularities or anomalies. If your moles look like that of Cindy Crawford’s beauty mark then, by all means, let the moles stay. But they are a rare breed, and we couldn’t all be Cindy Crawford. As a result, we are saddled with problems of having to live with these ugly and not-at-all-flattering moles. They most definitely need to go.
Beauty is not the only motivation for removing moles. Some moles actually pose the risk of melanoma or skin cancer. As far as skin diseases go, it is the deadliest type. They could be harmless at the beginning, but there are cases where even the harmless moles can become cancerous. If you have a lot of moles, your concern or worry would probably even be greater.
In order to reassure yourself that your moles are safe from cancer, you would have to reinforces your observation by a doctor’s diagnosis. Once they are proven to be dangerous, you should immediately take the initial steps to choosing a mole removal method that will work for you. There are many removal creams or lotions that are tried and tested to be safe and effective, or you could undergo surgery. The final decision will be based on the type of mole you have and the level of risk that they have.
