Gastric and Duodenal ulcers caused by NSAIDS: Omeprazole 20 mg once daily is prescribed to treat NSAID induced gastric and duodenal ulcers for a period of 4 weeks. In patients, who did not heal fully within this treatment period, the drug is extended further for a period of another 4 weeks.
GERD: Omeprazole 20 mg once daily for a period of 4 weeks is recommended to treat symptoms of GERD.
Instructions: Omeprazole 20 mg should be taken as prescribed by the physician. Missed dose should be taken as soon as possible. In any case, Omeprazole dose should not be altered without the knowledge of the physician.
Side Effects: Omeprazole 20 mg side effects include upper gastro intestinal disturbances such as: nausea, vomiting, abdominal pain, diarrhoea, flatulence, bloatedness and constipation. It may also cause frequent headaches. Less frequent Omeprazole side effects include: dryness of the mouthperipheral oedemadizziness, sleep disturbances, and excessive tirednessparaesthesia, rash and itching. Overdose due to Omeprazole is potentially fatal. Symptoms of Omeprazole overdose include rapid heartbeat, blurred vision, feeling of drowsiness, headache, dizziness, nausea, vomiting and sweating. Any symptoms of drug overdose should be reported to the health care provider.
