2 Weeks to Toner Thighs

Many women are uncomfortable with the size and shape of their thighs or their thighs’ overall lack of tone, and choose to hide them under long skirts and pants. Shorts, mini skirts, and bathing suits all end up forgotten in the back of the closet. However, in just two weeks those articles of clothing and other kinds of activewear can come back into the light and be central to your wardrobe again if you stick to a simple exercise routine.

If you want to build muscle in your thighs and tone them, resistance training is essential. The good news is that resistance exercises require simple moves that can be done just about anywhere. A great thigh toning exercise can be done while lying on your side. Lift the top leg straight up to the ceiling until you feel your thigh muscle engage. Hold your leg there for 10 seconds and then slowly bring it back down again where it started. Do the same exercise with the other leg. Wide-legged squats are also great for toning the thighs. Stand with your feet a little more than shoulder-width apart. Point your toes slightly out and keeping your back straight, bend your knees into a wide-legged squat. Make sure to do this exercise slowly — count to two on your way down and on your way back up. A third exercise can be done with a resistance band. Place the band around your ankles, bend your knees slightly, step one leg out to the side, and then return it. Repeat on the other leg. By doing three sets of 15 repetitions of these three exercises every day for two weeks, you should notice a difference in your thighs.

Building muscle in your legs is good for your whole body. Your thigh muscles are one of the biggest muscle groups in your body, and strong thighs burn more calories than weak ones. Having well-toned thighs will boost your overall metabolism, helping you reach your weight-loss goals.

After your two-week thigh toning session, treat yourself for a job well done. Buy a new skirt or a bathing suit.
