Addiction refers to uncontrolled cravings towards practices and/or substances that often lead to negative results. It is characterized by immediate satisfaction. Impulsive behaviour is common among people with addiction. Most common forms of substance abuse involve drugs and alcohol. Gambling and exercise abuse are the most common behavioural addiction practices.

Substance abuse is one of the most common negative issues dealt by our community. Alcohol addiction is rampant all over the world with almost adolescents as its victims. Another alarming form of abuse is drug addiction. Illegal selling of prescription drugs have been a great source of addiction. One of these prescribed drugs is called Darvocet. The primary use of this drug is to treat mild to moderate pain. A recall of this drug has been passed in 2007 because of a discovery that it can cause arrhythmia. Then again, there are still some who use this drug to treat patients who are suffering from chronic pain and post pain associated with post surgery.

People who take Darvocet for the purpose other than for pain relief will develop addiction to this drug. The drug is considered an opiate which means that it has greater tendency to be addictive. People who use this medicine feel a deep sense of happiness or self confidence. This is what makes them attracted to the drug more because it not only dulls pain but it makes one feel confident and happy. The immediate side effects usually don’t last long and when it does, the exact opposite is felt by the user. The more a person makes use of the drug, the more dangerous it is for his health.

Side effects of an addiction from darvocet are manifested both in the psychological and physical aspects of a user. Yellow skin, drowsiness, skin rashes, nausea and vomiting are common visual symptoms of its side-effects. Some of those that are not easily detected involve damages or injuries to vital organs in the body like the brain, heart, and liver.

There is hope for any form of addiction. Rehabilitation centers are available to help addicts in the recovery. But this doesn’t come without a price. What’s meant here is not about the money spent for therapy but of withdrawals from addiction from darvocet. A sudden halt of drug use would mean extreme pain to the addict. Any type of abuse when withdrawn always has complications. It is best that when one is motivated to rearrange lifestyle and improve for the better, a family or a support group is there to help in the whole course of treatment.
